I stumbled across Kyoto Inferno, Nobuhiro Watsuki's second manga-to-film adaptation in the Rurouni Kenshin live-action series, and from what I've seen from the action, it's a cracker!

The sequel is The Legend Ends.
The prequel is eponymous...
